About

Kento Yamamoto, a student at Deerfield Academy, was introduced to his first Rubik's Cube© when he was in 7th grade. Kento originally pursued the path of speed-cubing, entering in competitions, but mindlessly trying to shave solve times became unstimulating.

Kento created his first mosaic his freshman year for a history project. After recieving high marks and enjoying the time he spent working on the project, he continued to pursue his joy in creating mosaics out of Rubik's Cubes©.

Rubik's© website offers templates and instructions for mosaics, and so he started with creating mosaics of individuals such as Mandela, Einstein, etc. As he desired to create his own designs, Kento learned photoshop skills from a professional designer, Pete Fecteau (who created the famous MLK Tribute Mural), and worked on his first original project the summer of his junior year: a tribute to the greatest headmaster of Deerfield Academy.

When time allowed, Kento created more designs. Inspired by the book Outliers: The Stories of Success, Kento decided to document other "Outliers" using his cubes. His set can be found in the gallery section.

Kento is also simultaneously working on two sets, "Music, Mosaic, and Cubes" as well as "The Colors of Faith", hoping to be done by the summer of 2016.
